Ideally, get your Christmas tree into water right away and within one hour of delivery or pickup whenever possible.
We give every tree a fresh cut. If you're having your tree delivered, we'll make a fresh cut outside your home or business. If you're picking up your tree at one of our locations in Fishtown or West Chester, we'll make a fresh cut before tying it to your car.
This exposes fresh wood at the base of the trunk and helps your tree absorb water once you place it in your stand.
If the fresh-cut base is exposed to air for too long, the trunk can begin to dry out. As the sap at the cut surface hardens, it can partially seal the base and make it harder for the tree to absorb water.
What if I can't set up my Christmas tree right away?
If you're not ready to bring the tree inside, place the freshly cut trunk in a bucket of water in a cool, protected area until you're ready to set it up.
If you weren't able to get your tree into water right away and you have access to a saw, we recommend giving the trunk another fresh cut before placing it in your stand. Make a straight cut across the base to expose fresh wood, then place the tree in water immediately.
