Make sure the base of the trunk is fully submerged and refill the stand with plain water if needed. Continue checking the water level every day and never allow the stand to run dry.

Prolonged direct sunlight
Heat and dry indoor air can cause your Christmas tree to lose moisture more quickly.
Can a dry Christmas tree become fresh again?
It depends on how dry the tree has become.
If the stand ran dry for several hours and the tree has stopped drinking but still looks relatively fresh, giving the trunk another fresh cut and immediately returning it to water may help restore water absorption.
However, once a tree becomes very dry and brittle, adding water or making another fresh cut may not be enough to restore it.
What should I do if my Christmas tree is extremely dry?
If your tree is extremely dry, brittle, or losing large amounts of green exterior needles, it may be too dry to recover and should be removed from your home.
Very dry Christmas trees are also more flammable, so don't continue displaying a severely dried-out tree near lights, fireplaces, heaters, or other heat sources.
